The Tenure of Phil Wisdom: Dialogues (paperback)
University Press of America, 1995.
The Tenure of Phil Wisdom is a collection of eight dialogues, based on the Platonic model but set in contemporary America. Since I take the dramatic structure of the dialogues to be central to Plato's understanding of what philosophy is all about, I see myself as working with a structural formula which is in need only of topic and characters. Characters—at least sophistic ones—abound, and topics lie beneath the surface of things human just as they always have, sorely in need of Socratic questioning.
